I love taking simple materials to create fun craft projects with kids. Our penguin that we'll be making today is made up of a paper plate and construction paper - super easy!
Trace first or freehand cut out your penguin head and flippers out of black construction paper, and your feet and beak out of orange construction paper. Arrange and glue down on your paper plate. Draw in your eyes with black marker or glue down some googly eyes if you have any. You may want to flatten out your paper plate to make sure everything stays on nicely. And voilà! You've just made a cute penguin craft!
You can incorporate this into a larger lesson about penguins, looking at different kinds of penguin species in Penguins, Penguins, Everywhere and If You Were A Penguin. Talk about what kind of environment penguins live in, how they are different from other birds, or look on YouTube for what sounds they make (trust me, not what I was expecting haha). Have fun!
