noodle lion craft

Noodle Lion Craft

June 24, 2017

Today we are making noodle lions! I like this craft because it's really customizable with the kind of noodle you use. I chose rotini (to make that mane look extra wild!) but I've used shells and penne in the past too.

Supplies you will need:
Paper plate
Markers
Noodles
Glue
Googly eyes

Before starting, you may want to try and flatten your plate a little to make it easier for the noodles to stay. Not a big deal if you don't though.
First color in the middle of the plate with the color you want your lion to be - yellow or orange, or feel free to make a rockin' blue lion too. Next, we'll glue down our noodles along the edge of the middle circle in the plate. Once those are in place, draw in a nose and mouth for your lion. I put in little dots/freckles would go for his whiskers too. Lastly, glue or stick down your googly eyes. You have a super cute lion now with a very noodly mane!

What do your kids know about lions? Have you ever seen any at the zoo? If you have a pet cat, what might they have in common with lions? A couple books featuring lions that I like are Library Lion and Chloe and the Lion (for at least elementary school aged kids). I also like the song Roar Like A Lion for kids, where they pretend to be different animals - especially lions. Happy roaring!
